News : Latest ICTV Virus Taxonomy Profiles published – Dicistroviridae and Potyviridae

06 April 2017

The latest in our series of ICTV Virus Taxonomy Profiles have been published; Potyviridae, and Dicistroviridae.

In this issue, we feature the largest group of RNA plant viruses, Potyviridae, and a family that infects arthropods, Dicistroviridae. Taxa from both these families can have serious economic consequences; members of the Potyviridae cause epidemics in cultivated plants while Dicistroviridae includes Taura syndrome virus, which affects farmed shrimp, and acute bee paralysis virus which can have a devastating effect on domesticated honey bees.
