Abstract

SUMMARY

Newcastle disease and influenza viruses were purified by centrifuging in sucrose and potassium tartrate gradients and analysed for polyamines by thin-layer chromatography of dansyl derivatives. It has been shown that both viruses contained spermine, spermidine and putrescine in concentrations sufficient to neutralize 30 to 40% of virus RNA phosphates.
